I just got back from the wedding dinner of a former colleague.
Marriage remains one of the definitive rite of passage for the majority. Often associated with happiness, it is also a stage where one gives up some personal liberty to surrender to a more regulated lifestyle with the other half.
I've seen the wildchild tamper its temper after getting maried. When the min-it drops in, wildchild completely morphed into the doleful eyed and tamed one. I've heard married friends spout their envy the liberty singles enjoy often. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. While we do have to work hard to make anything work in life, is marriage for everyone? Can marriage truly bring happiness? Is the growing singles popoulation in developed cities around the world a worrying trend or is it just a natural phenomenon of a more busy and cynical world we live in?
